If you just want to get away from it you don't have to go anywhere, just park up relax, or get out your walking boots to enjoy miles of off-road walks or quiet cycling lanes all from our tranquil location.
If you are looking for things to do then we are blessed with many places of interest for birders, to historians, to culture lovers. See the details provided on site for more details but below we will give you some highlights.

Challenge

Walking
Our location is very popular locally for walkers because we have an abundance of lovely walks, many of which are largely off-road. We have a list of popular routes that include some wonderful views and places to picnic along the way.
Hingham is a manageable walk of about 8 miles round trip and has some beautiful buildings and history as well as The White Hart Hotel which does wonderful food.
We have a list of routes and some maps printed for you to borrow available onsite, however the Norfolk Trails website is a fantastic resource for finding walking routes further afield or if you want to investigate some places of historic interest.
Cycling
Cyclists also love the region for it's relatively flat nature with occasional views of the gently undulating Norfolk countryside.
When The National Cycle Network began their first routes were in Norfolk illustrating the suitability of the region for cycling. With over 350miles of routes on their maps there are plenty of choices for you to explore.
Find your route here.
There are also several off-road cycling opportunities nearby as well.
High Lodge also has cycle hire if you haven't brought yours with you.
The Marriott Way is popular for walking and cycling and runs through some very picturesque parts of our county.

Golf & Leisure
Only 12 minutes away is the award winning Barnham Broom Golf, Hotel and Leisure a luxury retreat which is one of the go to places for golfers of the county.
They also have an award winning restaurant and the slightly more casual Sports bar which serve a wide variety of foods.
If you are looking for something a little more relaxed then Mattishall Golf Club might be a better fit for you. Even more local at just 7 minutes away this is a 9 hole course with a friendly character and welcoming players.

Fishing
We are very luck to have several fishing lakes nearby. Do please call them to confirm availability and licensing.

The Mid-Norfolk Railway
The Mid-Norfolk Railway is the longest standard-gauge heritage railway in East Anglia and runs through the Heart of Norfolk. The railway has its headquarters in Dereham and runs south to Wymondham Abbey Halt station. Currently the line is also being restored north towards North Elmham and will run to the railway’s County School Station.

The Norfolk Broads
When it comes to visiting the Norfolk Broads there is a huge amount to cover, so I'm going to leave that up to the experts!
Go to the Visit Norfolk website to find out about all the places there are to go. Rest assured you can enjoy at least a couple of days exploring here.
A 'must see' or rather 'must do' in our opinion is a trip with Broads Tours which run from Wroxham. A cruise you will enjoy in comfort and is wonderful at any time of the year.

Norwich
Norwich is a wonderful fusion of the modern and historic, one complementing the other. Like any great city its centre is easy to walk around and has a river at its heart. As well as being the most complete medieval city in the UK, it has a flourishing arts, music and cultural scene, superb independent as well as High Street shopping, lively restaurants, bars and nightlife and a heritage that is a delight to explore. It was also England's first UNESCO City of Literature – this is a city of stories!
Check out the Visit Norfolk website for lots of things to see and do in our super city.
