OUR PITCHES

OUR PITCHES & FEES

We are a Camping and Caravanning Club CS, Adult only, Hideaway site and you do need to be a member of the club to stay with us.  For your convenience you can join the Club while on site, so there's no waiting around for membership cards to arrive before you visit.
All our pitches are on grass with a 16amp electric hook-up.
For each night of your stay we include 10kw of electricity. Additional usage will be charged at the time of departure.
We accept payment by all major credit and debit cards. See more about booking and payment below.

Pitch fees:
Caravans, Camper Vans, Trailer Tents & Tents - £20 per night (Fee covers 2 occupants)
Additional occupants @£2.50 per night

Pup tent £5 per night (Fee covers 2 occupants)
Awnings - No additional charge for awnings.

ENTRANCE: Getting through our 12 foot field gate is an issue if your unit is very large as there is not much manoeuvering space. As a consequence we find that we can't accommodate '5th wheelers'.

Visitors are welcome but their parking must be accommodated within your pitch area, do not block anyone else in/out.
Noise
- We respectfully ask that noise is kept to a minimum to avoid disturbing the relaxation of others. This is a Quiet Site.
We have quite a menagerie of animals so no dog's are allowed unless by prior agreement with us.

CAMPING FACILITIES

As we are a CS Hideaway site we don't have any shower or toilets available for campers.
However, those campers with your own facilities will be made very welcome of course.

WINTER GEORGE

We have a little tame Robin about the stables who comes out to see Gilly each morning to get some corn.
Gilly's late mum Joan, told us she would come back as a Robin, get in through the window and make a mess in our kitchen!
We also love the writing of Mackenzie Crook, and have an affinity with his way of thinking, writing and his love of nature and wildlife.  In his garden at home Mackenzie  has a tame Robin, who he has named Winter George and he even features in the new BBC Worzel
Gummidge.
Next to pitch 'Blackbird' this enjoys dappled sunlight and great view of our magnificent sunsets.

BLACKBIRD

At Merryfield we are inundated with Blackbirds so we couldn't possibly name our pitches after birds and not include the Blackbirds. This pitch sits under the Ash trees along the roadside hedge and enjoys firm ground with a lovely outlook across the site and towards the back field.
This is a large pitch divided from 'Winter George' by a bund of earth with a laurel hedge planted along the top. The pitch has lots of space for a pup tent or for a large awning with further outside space if you like to sit and enjoy the sun.
The sunlight here is dappled through the branches of the trees.

PATSY WREN

This is our largest pitch space with room for a large camper and awning or perhaps someone with a pair of vehicles in their party.

A large firm area of grass looks out over the site towards the west and is bordered by a laurel hedge on the east and north sides. You've lots of options for which way to orientate yourself with this pitch. Useful for larger units.

'Patsy Wren' a resident at Merryfield was named after Peter's late grandmother, Pat. Our little wren lives and nests in the hedge around the ground mounted solar panels and she loves sitting in the fence picking bugs of the honeysuckle and roses that grow here.

WAGTAILS

Another pitch that offers several options for orientating yourself, either towards the south if you're a sun lover or the west if you want to enjoy our sunsets. The ground here is again firm grass and boarders the ground mounted solar units with a hedge of honeysuckle providing a delightful fragrance of a summer's evening.

You will be able to enjoy the sun almost all day on this pitch once it rises over the house, so if you're a sun lover this could be the spot for you!

MAGPIE

This is likely to be our most popular pitch, looking out over the field and the buttercups of early summer and then the wild flowers of mid-summer to autumn.

You can orientate yourself to either face outwards over the field or inwards towards the site depending on your preference.  Slightly softer ground here so not so suitable for larger units apart from in the height of summer.

The Magpies love our field and hedges and spend a lot of time picking up bugs from the long grass and fighting in the trees.
Watch for where they nest in case they are hoarding gold coins or jewellery, we'll split the bounty with you if we can reach it!

SKYLARK

Almost everyday of the year you will hear a Skylark at Merryfield, they never seem to leave but you will struggle to see them unless you have the eyes of a hawk.

This pitch is next to the gate which leads into the back field and has a lovely view over that space, an area that is beautiful at any time of the day. The ground here is slightly softer so again not suitable for larger units unless in the heat of summer but also benefits from being a large pitch space with lots of options for which way to orientate your van, tent or camper.

To spot the Skylarks, always look up higher than you'd expect and towards the back of the field and north.
Can you see it?  No I thought not!!
